La Palma, magnificent unknown in Canary Islands
La Palma (also is called San Miguel de La Palma ) is an island of the Canary Islands archipelago mail to the West, about 80 km from Tenerife by the administrative authority of the province (province of Santa Cruz de Tenerife) along with Tenerife, La Gomera and El Hierro.

In Santa Cruz de la Palma is located also the main port of the island , with ferry to Santa Cruz de Tenerife and San Sebastián de La Gomera, and Arrecife Cadiz.

The capital is Santa Cruz de la Palma and numerically has the same population of Los Llanos de Aridane , according to the center of the island, the town is dominated by happiness and the pastel colors of the original balconies of the local architecture . The main street and shopping mecca is called Calle de O’Daly, it includes important monuments such as the seventeenth-century palace of Salazar, the spectacular sailing ship stranded in Alameda Square, the Church of the Savior (1750), the sixteenth-century town hall (ayuntamiento) and Renaissance church of San Francisco.
Additional space deserves, ” The Defence of La Palma “, located in the east of the island , was used to defend the city. Its construction was ordered by the ruler Cepeda in the sixteenth century, although it was later built in several stages. It has a square plan and a low arch characterizes the façade. It was declared a Historic-Artistic Monument in 1951.
Within the artistic heritage of the city includes a rich number of works of various styles: Renaissance, Baroque and Neoclassical are notable in particular the works of art imported from Flanders and America, especially those of religious background.
The strange phenomenon of the formation of clouds at high altitude (between 1-2 km in height) on top of the Roque de los Muchachos , favors the ‘ settlement of astronomical observatories , which occupy spaces shared by many countries including Italy, too, with the Telescopio Nazionale Galileo Galilei, the largest optical telescope in Italian.
